With the dramatic need for homes in Silicon Valley, housing development will continue to affect the community, the economy and the character of the built environment. A limited amount of space will increasingly dictate the design of this housing and concentrate development. While high rise housing is typically associated with downtown areas, developments can be constructed in such a way that they can be integrated into other locations, such as transit nodes. Local officials, planners, government staff and community stakeholders must be equipped with tools to responsibly guide this development in the future.
In an effort to further public understanding of this type of housing, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group is coordinating a tour of several high rise residential developments in the Valley. We encourage you to take this opportunity to see Silicon Valley high rise development first-hand, learn about the development process from the people involved, and discuss the future of development in your community.
Please join us to tour various high rise developments across Silicon Valley,
discuss policy initiatives that went into their development, and learn from
other cities' experiences to best direct development in your community.
